The word "permaculture" is a combination of permanent & culture. Originally, it applied to cutting edge farming techniques. Big corporate farming has destroyed the fertility of the land all over the world. Rows and rows of the same plant is bad for the soil. Pouring in pesticides & adding chemical fertilizer poisons the produce & livestock, making us all sick. Permaculture oriented agriculturists study how nature does things and imitates her methods.
Now permaculture is evolving into other areas of our lives. Scientists, engineers, & inventors seek to gather from the earth, rather than desecrating the planet. Solar power, wind power, using mass to heat, the ideas are flowing and a sustainable future is possible.
